A word from the Maker-

My name is Malcolm. I am the owner and lead carpenter at Fonthill Mill. Likely similar to many of you, beautiful things have always inspired me. Since a very young age, I’ve had the desire to create my own various forms of beauty. One might ask what makes beauty? To me, beauty is something open to interpretation under the laws of mother nature. Beauty says “I am unique, I am pleasing, I am excellent”. I created Fonthill Mill to bring forth & display the incredible potential which mother nature, and specifically large reclaimed tree’s have to offer. Each slab of wood tells a unique story of its own, represented through grain patterns, color variations, and figure. All wooden material which is utilized in production at Fonthill Mill has come from reclaimed trees which would otherwise be chopped into mulch. I utilize traditional European finishing techniques in my work to achieve unmatched product quality. Fonthill Mill furniture is made to be handed down through generations to come. As a real carpenter, I understand that a creative mind, proper training, plenty of patience & going the extra mile in all steps of the building process are crucial details which separate typical furniture from functional art.
